Band
The Night was formed in 2023 by Barry Sims. The band's sound is grounded in British rock with soul and jazz influences.
We recorded our first album 'Perfect Storm' at Quay West Studios in Hampshire with sound engineer David Evans. We've just launched the video for the third song from the album, 'Break the Spell'. With awesome videographer Sam Carter-Brazier at the helm and narrative scenes created by Barry, we're looking forward to pushing the boundaries with this video!

Barry began his musical adventure as singer/guitarist in new wave band Staa Marx, who opened Reading Festival in 1977. Moving to London there followed many years in various bands, including playing flamenco guitar. With the formation of The Night, Barry has returned to his rock roots.

Steve is an accomplished saxophonist having played in bands whilst studying on jazz courses since his 20s. He gained a Jazz Diploma at Chichester College and developed his playing and improvisation skills in soul and funk bands including Chic tribute act Le Freak and Barry's previous band DB7.

Emily has been playing the trumpet in a wide variety of styles and ensembles since childhood. More recently, she performed professionally aboard cruise ships entertaining guests from around the world. Emily now enjoys performing in several bands at pubs, festivals and functions.

Kevin has been playing drums professionally for 15 years. He toured Europe with the blues/rock band Catfish who produced three successful albums and is experienced in session work and the festival circuit. Before that, he was the drummer in various bands in all genres of music.

Music has been at the centre of Mike' s life from a young age when he discovered he could play piano by ear. He took up the bass and acoustic guitar later in life and is still enjoying learning every day. He plays a custom Overwater bass - his pride and joy!
